The Art Of Approaching is a bold piece of work and the culmination of years of practice in the art of picking up women. Joseph Matthew started out shy, fat, ugly and with a poor self image (by his own admission) and realized that if he didn't do something about it he would never be happy in life. I think the most important insight of the book is that IT IS POSSIBLE to become successful with women no matter where you are today and that looks, money, power and fame are not required.
Pros
Great coverage. Covers everything from 'inner game' (the mindset and beliefs required for success with women) to techniques.
Plenty of detail on how to approach effectively. Provides a great model that is key to you attaining consistent and long term success.
He believes that you dont have to go out to bars and clubs every night to get good with women. You can have much success approaching women during the day. In fact this is an easier way to do it since women going about their business during the day are unlikely to be sorrounded by jealous friends.
It is not a 'look how great I am' type of book. He is candid about his shortcomings and admits that the journey is still incomplete.
Sets realistic expectations for success by recounting his own frustrations and gradual breakthroughs. My experience interacting with so called gurus has been that they oversell their skill level and the results you can expect to get. Joe does not do this.
Openers, email sequences for online dating. Joe gives a few examples of openers and emails that are effective in an online dating context and also explains why they work so you can craft your own. You certainly don't want to email her the same thing 10 other guys have emailed!
Cons
The book is just too long at about 340 pages. Could definitely use some editing.
Plenty of spelling errors. Have you heard of a spell checker?
Tendency to get to academic about simple things!
